About Us
Excella Arabians has been breeding quality Arabians for over four decades. Founded in 1976 by the Levasseur family, it began as a young girl's dream and quickly became a family passion.
In 1979, the Levasseurs partnered with Baywood Park Ltd. in California, where Lisa Levasseur spent eight years working as an assistant trainer under Bob Battaglia and Randy Shockley. During this time, Excella Arabians produced five Top Ten National Champions, two National Champions, and one Reserve National Champion in the U.S. and Canada across Halter, English Pleasure, Driving, and Combination classes.
After returning to Canada in 1985, Lisa established Excella Arabians as a full-service training centre. Despite facing 15 back surgeries, her dedication to horses never wavered. After a significant back fusion, Lisa returned to riding in 2021 and is now working with Katie Attwood to rebuild Excella’s training program and offer select riding lessons.
Today, Lisa is expanding Excella’s breeding program to include Friesians, Saddlebreds, and approved Warmbloods with Arabian heritage, focusing on developing FEI-quality Dressage horses.
Excella Equine Park is excited to announce the completion of a new barn and arena within the proposed ranchette housing development in Stony Plain. This will continue a legacy of excellence in breeding, training, and horsemanship.
