Visitor Information Counsellor - Summer 2025

Summer Full time, 35 hours per week, $17.00 per hour.

The Visitor Information Centre, managed by the Greater Parkland Regional Chamber of Commerce, offers a wide range of visitor services including visitor counselling, helpful travel information, literature, and knowledge of the attractions and businesses within our communities. On average, we welcome 5,000 visitors each year.

What does it take to become a Visitor Information Counsellor? You are passionate about the Tri-Region, enthusiastic, and excited to share your knowledge about the many activities and attractions, festivals and events happening in each of our communities. You enjoy helping visitors navigate their way through this amazing place. The successful candidate must meet the guidelines for the Canada Summer Job Grant. In addition, we are looking for some of the following skills:

  • Education in communications, marketing, business, new media, or public relations.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Positive attitude, detail and customer oriented with good multitasking and organizational ability.
  • Outgoing and enjoys interacting with the public. 
  • Performance experience is considered an asset but not required.
  • Proficient and comfortable with computers.

Job Description: The Visitor Information Counsellor is responsible for daily opening, operating, and closing procedures associated with the Visitor Information Centre operations. The primary responsibility is to provide front line, exceptional customer service to guests. 

The Counsellor will work with local tourism businesses, attractions, event planners, and organizations to ensure that we always have the most up to date information at the Visitor Information Centre. They will maintain the information centre brochure inventory and displays.

Visitor Information Counsellors will also serve visitors and locals alike by providing local information (such as information about local housing, maps, locations of local services, etc.), as well as information about other parts of Canada. Training will be given on this and other aspects of the job.

Who we are: We are the Greater Parkland Regional Chamber of Commerce (a non-profit organization) operating the Visitor Information Centre in Stony Plain. We thank all candidates for their interest; however, only those invited for interviews will be contacted.

This is a full-time contract position which will start on June 2nd and end on August 29th. It is required that you are available to work weekends and long weekends as these are our busiest days.

We require that all applicants possess a clean driver's abstract and a reliable vehicle as you will be expected to have the ability to travel to events within Parkland County.
